Wiser Home Controller User's Manual Concepts The Wiser Home Controller web interface appearance depends on many factors, including the 'skin' used and the selected 'widgets.' A typical screen is shown below. A widget is a graphical component displayed on the Wiser Home Controller that is used to control and/or display the state of something. Wiser Home Controller User's Manual Locations are used to arrange Widgets according to their physical location in a site. A project can have between 1 and 20 locations.

Typically, this happens when using the web browser over WiFi and the WiFi is going out of range. The C-Bus icon with a red slash across it means that the Wiser Home Controller does not have C-Bus connectivity. This could be caused by no C-bus connection, wrong CNI IP Address or no CNI. The meaning of the other information is as follows:. Attempted reconnects: this is the number of times a re-connect to the Wiser Home Controller has been attempted. This will normally be 0 for a wired Ethernet connection. Allow time for the router to establish connection with the C-Bus network and to poll the states of the C-Bus devices through the C-Bus Network Interface (CNI). This is important to give a true picture of the status of the equipment and to allow scenes to begin from know start points. Wiser Home Controller User's Manual The monitor and control functions might not be available during maintenance events such as using Toolkit, transferring a project to the Wiser unit using PICED, or when the router is rebooting or performing power-on self tests. Also, during Wiser project maintenance, other programs running on your home LAN might be interrupted or slowed down. Tools On the Tools page you can select Enable Remote Access, Configure Router settings and Set C-Bus Date and Time.
To select the Tools page, click on the Tools icon at the bottom of the Function Groups list. After making a change, it must be saved. Saving changes causes the router to reboot 5.5.3 C-Bus Time and Date The C-Bus Date and Time widget on the Tools page allows you to set the network time from the Wiser UI.
C-bus Toolkit Software
You can enable or disable automatic adjustment for Daylight Savings Time. Daylight Savings can be set automatically using a schedule. Refer to the PICED help file for details. Note: Make sure the C-Bus network is connected when changing the time and date settings. The Shutter Relay widget is very similar to the Curtain Controller widget.
Wiser Home Controller User's Manual Lighting Status The Lighting Status widget shows when a load is on. It is not used for controlling the load. The status can be shown with an icon or a level from 0 - 100%. The appearance will depend on the icon selected. 7.10 Enable Preset The Enable Preset widget is generally used for enabling a function of the C-Bus system, such as a scheduled event. The appearance will depend on the icon selected.
The icon will show whether the preset level is selected, indicated by the brightness of the icon. Wiser Home Controller User's Manual 7.13 Scene Trigger The Scene Controller widget is used for setting a scene. This allows many lights to be set to pre-determined levels all at once.

Adjust the bass and treble levels A Long Press on the + or - buttons will allow the volume to be adjusted up (louder) or down (quieter) respectively. The name of the controlled device is above the widget.

Wiser Home Controller Installation Instructions Network Topology You should carefully consider the existing network layout at the customer site before installing the Wiser Home Controller. Try to minimise the amount of reconfiguration required. There are a couple of important points to remember during the Wiser Home Controller installation. Wiser Home Controller Installation Instructions Adding the Wiser Home Controller and CNI The installer has several choices when adding the Wiser Home Controller to the customer's network. The basic options are:. Option A. Connect the Wiser Home Controller's WAN port to the output of the customer's modem/router as shown in Figure 3.

Option B, Wiser Home Controller placed on the customer's LAN Option B requires a minimum of changes to the existing customer configuration. After adding the Wiser Home Controller, move the customer's wireless equipment to the Wiser wireless LAN. Be sure to set up security on the new wireless LAN, if used. Wiser Home Controller Installation Instructions Choosing a Network Setup Option The following table can be helpful in deciding which of the three basic options is best suited to the customer's needs. The data path to these devices uses the inline CNI and a C-Bus Wireless Gateway unit. Keep the PC network (Ethernet) and C-Bus network isolated from each other. Do not connect the pink C-Bus network cable to an Ethernet LAN or telephone lines. The C-Bus network uses polarised 15 - 36 V d.c. That can damage PC equipment.
The steps listed in Table 3 are detailed in this document and in the Wiser Home Controller 5200PG Setup Sheet. Prerequisite Install Clipsal C-Bus Toolkit and PICED software on a PC using the downloaded versions (refer to Section 1.2).
Bring the PC to the customer site. The C-Bus network provides power for the C-Bus side of the CNI circuit board.
Do not connect the C-Bus side of the CNI to an Ethernet LAN. Damage to the equipment will occur. Open the cable access door on the CNI unit. Using the link that is attached to the CNI, connect the CNI and the router together. If you have not already connected the pink C-Bus cable to the CNI terminals, do this now.

Normally, the higher you mount the equipment, the better the performance. Mount the equipment on a wall using the two keyhole screws on the back of the router, or place the unit on a desk or table.

The 'C-Bus' indicator on the Inline CNI is only active when the unit is connected to a C-Bus network that is powered on. Refer to Table 5. These programs can be useful to diagnose some connectivity problems and gather information about IP addresses. For example, if filing a bug about an unexpected mode of behaviour with the GUI affecting C-Bus, it is valuable to record the sequence of steps that you performed. The wrench logo means that the web UI is currently in CNI mode meaning that the device is being used as a CNI and thus the web UI will not function until the CNI mode is disconnected.
