Bought this primarily to provide use during residential outages, especially for our sump pump! We rarely were out of power more than a few hours a couple times a year here in central NH, but the frequency and intensity of nasty storms is increasing and we wanted the piece of mind of our own generator. Bought this unit online, was delivered by UPS in one week and in great shape. Had to buy the oil at the closest Honda dealer 22 miles away. But instructions were straight forward and after connecting up the battery and adding a little gas, the unit fired up (using the choke) right away.

Unbelievably quiet, especially in Eco-Throttle mode. I built my own platform on a wheeled base for portability (not having wheels was the only feature flaw I see). Should meet my needs for a number of years! In June of 2015, I bought a small toy hauler/camper and planned to boon-dock some when traveling and/or hunting. I started looking at generator options.

I’d never owned a generator, so as I began researching, a list of desired features began to form. I wanted a generator that's user friendly, quiet, fuel efficient, durable, easily maintained and with access to maintenance, repair and replacement parts. I wanted clean, stable power for my computer and other electronics, so I looked only at inverter generators. I read and watched countless reviews on sites and message boards and talked to others who owned generators. I settled on Honda as a brand and was considering one of two options: a pair EU2000i's with a parallel kit or a single EU3000is. The money is about the same with either choice.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but I won't get into those details here.? In short, I settled on the EU3000is.? Pros: -It cranks up quickly and easily with electric start.

(It also has a manual pull-start and after 2-1/2 years, still cranks easily on the first pull.) -It powers my 30amp camper as long as I don’t simultaneously fire up the AC and microwave. It puts out enough amps to simultaneously power the essential 120V circuits in my home. (Aka, lights, refrigerator, freezer, TV, Satellite, fan, portable AC for the bedroom.) I used it during a Spring power outage and it performed flawlessly for 3 days. It’s quiet and fuel efficient. I can stand next to it while carrying on a comfortable conversation, even with eco mode turned off and while powering the 13,500 BTU rooftop AC unit on my camper. (With eco mode turned on and with a light load, I'd characterize the sound level as similar to that of a car at idle.) When boon-dock camping at our hunting club, my Honda is by-far the quietest generator there, and by-far the most fuel efficient.Fuel efficiency: I had some concerns about getting through a summer night on one tank of gas since specs say that it’ll run for only 7 hours at full rated capacity. (20 hr run time at 1/4 rated capacity) On a trip to Kentucky in August of 2017 for the solar eclipse, daytime temps were in the 90’s with plenty of humidity. I knew that my AC would be running hard, so I topped off the fuel tank at bedtime, set the thermostat on 68 and hit the sack.

I don’t recall the exact length of time it ran before I shut it down in the late morning, but I’d guess well over 10 consecutive hours. It needed under 3 gallons to refill the 3-1/2 gallon tank. Cons: At north of $2000, it’s expensive and there are some basic necessities/accessories that should have been included. I had to purchase those separately and they were not inexpensive. A couple of them annoyed me and one completely defies any logic.

From the category, “Face-palm”: The maintenance schedule is in hours of run-time, but for some highly illogical reason, the EU3000is doesn’t come with a factory installed hour meter. I’m diligent about maintenance, so I purchased an aftermarket hour meter and figured out how to wire and install it. Oil capacity is 18 oz of 10W-30. That’s not a lot of oil, so I change it regularly and keep the generator level when it’s running.

There’s no external connection for an external battery maintainer. I purchased an aftermarket battery tender/float charger and installed the included leads with generic 2-wire plug. I keep it plugged into the battery tender when stored so that the onboard battery stays charged and in good shape. The Honda doesn’t come with a dust cover or 12v charger cable (for charging external batteries). Honda gets a premium for those two items and they should be included at the price point of a premium gen-set. No in-line fuel filter.

There is a fuel strainer under the fuel cap, but I’m all about redundancy when it comes to filtering fuel. There’s a good chance that you’ll be filling your generator from a portable can and those are notorious for collecting debris and contaminants. An inline filter simply makes good sense on a device that needs to work every time you need it. In my opinion, Honda shows very poor form for not including all or most of the above items and features. The EU3000is has a manual choke. This one cuts two ways.

On one hand, it’s straight-forward and easy to use, plus a manual choke is unlikely to malfunction and you have complete control over the choke setting. On the other hand, an auto choke is transparent to the user, so you never have wonder whether or not to choke during starting. In addition, if you’re looking to add an aftermarket remote start, you’ll need to install an auto-choke. The 30 amp power outlet on the Honda comes with an L5-30 locking receptacle.

My RV has a 30 amp TT30 (or RV30) plug, so I had to purchase an adapter. (I’m ok with this one as the L5-30 twist lock is actually a more secure connection and not everyone is going to use it to power an RV.) For my use, I added a wheels kit. It’s not really a necessity, but the EU3000is is pretty heavy and can be a chunk to move around without help. The wheels make that much easier.

Even though I had to spend some extra money to correct some omissions by Honda and to set it up like I wanted, I’m 2-1/2 years in and very happy with my EU3000is. It’s quiet, economical, easy to operate and has proved to be reliable and simple to maintain. You can buy generators that are much less expensive per KW, but I wouldn’t trade mine for any that I’ve seen. When I purchased an older Toy Hauler a few years ago, the previous owner included an old EU3000iS generator.

I kept the generator when I sold the Toy Hauler and have used it a lot with the new travel trailer we purchased over a year ago. It performed excellently until last weekend when carburetor problems started. We were camping at 7500 feet, where we have been before without issues with the generator. It has to be 10 to 12 years old and has seen some use. I did what I could to keep it running to charge the batteries on the coach during the day. So, I purchased a new EU300iS and it performs excellently.

We haven't been back at elevation to check it out as of yet, but will soon and I don't expect any problems. I really is a great, quiet generator that performs!! We purchased this generator as a result of Hurricane Irma. We were able to run the refrigerator, portable AC unit and fans all at once without having to choose which we needed.

After the hurricane we were in southwest Florida with no electric in days of 100 degree and had to have ac & food while we completed some repairs. Without a reliable generator to handle the load we would have been lost.

With a 96 year old person in the household we had to rely on our very reliable Honda generator. We will look into adding another Honda in future.

The aftermath of hurricane Maria has left us in Puerto Rico without power. This morning counts as the 36th continuous day using this generator an average of 15 - 18 hours daily. In addition of my home I have been assisting 2 other neighbors with power, via electrical cords. Altogether we run 2 TV's, 1 small and 1 medium size freezer, a 25-cubic-feet refrigerator and about 8 fans, lap top and desk top computer. I am sure we are using this generator to its capacity.

Noise levels are superb. In my room my fan is noisier than the generator, which is placed about 20 feet from my window. It handles power steadily, the voltage does no vary for more than 1 volt, generally at a constant 124 - 125 volts. I get about 15 hours of use in one tankful (about 3.5 gallos). Maintenance is a must. Follow the manual instructions.

Spark plug needs to be changed every 100 hours. There is scarcity here in PR of these spark plugs I tried meticulously cleaning one and using it beyond the recommended time, but it failed, the generator stopped after a few hours.

Though mine has a starter, it is easy to start it manually. I am happy I purchased this generator, allowing me to keep my fridge running and having fans for the hot tropical nights here. This machine is wonderful in all aspects! It does and is everything that it states it does with elegance and precision. I have been designing complex machines for the last 35 years and it might be said that I am able to see excellence of design. You will not be disappointed with this unit! In South Florida, where the power is very often flaky, this unit will become a trusted friend.

I would highly recommend using ONLY Marine, 'Recreation' Gasoline in this unit. You will be glad you did! Happy Inverting to You! Why do I buy necessities after Hurricanes? I bought a Honda, for I know that Honda will give me years of trouble free power. After Hurricane Irma, and not being able to keep my refrigerator cold because electricity was lost for 4 days. $400 worth of food to throw out.

This will be used for the Fridge, Wine Cooler and a few fans. I started it up yesterday. Added oil, gas and hooked up the battery, in addition to adding the optional wheels dolly. Started on the second pull. Then I tried the key start using the battery.

Worked perfectly. What amazed me the most was how quiet this generator is. My neighbors have larger portable generators that you can hear from blocks away.

Honda did an excellent job designing this generator to make it as quiet as can be. Thanks Honda. I wish I had it before Hurricane Irma, but I didn't think we would be without electric for as long as we were. Great Generator. Hands down the best for its size.

I bought this after my 20+ old 3500w Honda finally died. I didn't run it for several years or it may have still been going. This is the quietest of this size and the inverter power stability is a real plus. This runs my small camper trailer a/c just fine.

Be careful adding oil, manual said it was shipped dry and holds 18oz., but it ran over after 12oz. The only feature that could be added to make better might be a voltmeter, but with inverter its probably not needed. Living in a Town Home community but concerned about the weather predictions, we decided to get the EU3000IS from a local dealer, Pomona Power Equipment, based on their years in business and good reputation. We discussed the needs and decided to go with this unit because it is QUIET. Don't want to upset neighbors but as we grow older it's good to know that we'll have this unit to run the essentials. Kudos to Pomona Power as they spent time and showed me everything about operation including a reminder never to use indoors ( some people don't understand that surprisingly). They also educated me on why it's best to use ethanol free gas in this unit.

Having cut many lawns over my lifetime I never knew about this but will faithfully follow this advice as this was a big purchase and needs to be treated accordingly. I've rated as a 4 because I haven't had time to run it again. But I give the dealer, a local family run operation a 5. I get the ratings, rules and 'supposed to use' documentation. All I'll say is I have a medium sized home (1,700 sq. I tethered my EU3000iS to my breaker box. When the power goes out, I hook it up, start it up and the entire house is like normal.

I just don't run things that generate heat or spin (i.e. Dryers, electric oven, etc.). I also turn one breaker on at a time so not to turn on critical items at the same time (i.e. Two refrigerators at once). It is quiet and runs all day and half the night on one tank of gas. We watch TV, run the central AC, gas central heater (cuz it just needs to turn the fan), use computers.everything.

It's very cool. Sure, they ain't cheap but they pay for themselves the first time you lose power for 2 days straight. I don't like when the power goes out. But then again, I kinda do. Always by Honda. Tried and true. After exhaustive research of similar sized generators decided on the Honda for our needs which include travel trailer camping and emergency outages for our home.

Anxious to hurry and see how it ran, we connected battery, filled with Honda oil, and some gas. Fired right up first time in our small 8x10 barn and wife and I looked at each other in amazement. We could talk normal as it ran quietly in our little enclosure (very brief exposure). Everyone is splitting hairs on their web videos of their 'noise tests' and hard to compare decibel ratings.

All we know is this generator is super quiet! Excited now to carry camping and will not have to worry about disturbing neighbors. Feel confident we made the right decision to 'go red'.

Purchased this new and right out of the box first time running had issues. It would randomly cut off.

Oil level was fine and fresh gas. After several uses I took this unit to my local service dealer (Land and Coates) and after the shop having this for a month on and off, still not working properly. Randomly shuts down completely under load. No reason or explanation and our local service team is baffled. I asked them to swap it out for a new one due to the ongoing issue and since it was under warranty since they told me they couldn't figure it out.

Basically said no way. So I have a $2100 piece of red shiny junk for a generator. Not sure the purpose of a warranty if you don't stand behind your product. Very disappointed and would recommend ALL considering these to beware if you receive a lemon basically you are screwed!! Received unit in great condition. The generator was will packed and easy to unbox.

I had already downloaded the owner's manual, and was ready to place into service. Everything was as the manual had shown. Added oil and gasoline and the unit started as easy as my 10 year old Honda mower.

Connected the EU3000is to my Reliance ProTran-2 manual transfer switch with 10 circuits. Started transferring power from house to generator, one circuit at a time. The EU300is handler all the circuits and was still below 2000 w and then it was able to run in eco-mode. The EU3000is is expensive, but a Honda is by far the best equipment on the market. I'm looking for many years of service on this generator. William Ruffner Dubois, PA. It is absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable that Honda doesn't include the wheel kit as part of the original package, as they call them (the wheels) an 'accessory'.

This is a very heavy and an already extremely expensive generator, and to have Honda nickle and dime us like that to make few extra bucks at our expense is revolting and disgusting. Good thing they included the gas cap with it at no extra charge. No matter how good the generator might be, I am giving it the lowest rating and will not recommend it to anybody, just so Honda wakes up and fixes this atrocity. I waited a long time to choose the right generator, enough wattage for some home use and to run my camper air conditioning, and small enough to take camping, quiet enough not to bother the camping neighbors, and it just looks great. It handle my 110 V MIG Welder no problem. I have only used it for about 6 hrs wear-in, but only had to add oil and gasoline, set the choke, and it was off and running, more like purring though.

It handled my camper (23 foot long, not sure the power rating) air conditioning unit on ECO no problem. I recommend purchasing the two wheel kit, pricy, but well worth the cost if you plan on hauling it around. So far it is all that I wanted it to be. I look forward to many years of quality use. It doesn't get any better. I use this to dry camp with other campers.

I recently went to a concert where only RV generators were allowed at night and there were people playing cards next to my truck with the generator running. They were as far away from their own Onan built in, as possible! With all the generators running in this crowded venue the spot next to my truck was the quietest. With the ability to put an RV extension cord on this and move this to the 'best place' to keep noise down I never hear it and forget it is on.

I do not normally write reviews but this thing is awesome. Hurricane Matthew was coming and it looked wicked. Having never experienced a hurricane, decided to play safe and purchase a generator. Started researching. Tried to get a census of all the reviews and one thing stood out.

All the Honda reviews were golden. If there were any knocks it was just little stuff, while other brands leaned to the dissatisfied side. Pulled the trigger and found the eu3000is at a nearby store. Six generators sold while I was in the store. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. It is as advertised. A wonderful machine.

A neighbor had to come over to watch his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes ( we're WI Badger fans) after his competitive brand generator would not start. If you have the means buy the best. Over the last 50 years I've owned many other generators. None compare. Ran the Tv and computers, fridge, several fans and 1/2 doz lights.

Never blinked, and ran on Eco for 40 hours right out of the box. Set up was a snap. And yes it is quiet. Its a heavy generator. Built-in wheels would of been a nice improvement. The box was pretty beat up but the generator had no damage.

Taking the four 10mm cap nuts off of the front cover to get to the battery was not an easy operation. The operator's manual states the four nuts are 6mm.

Sorry, they are 10mm. The right side treaded extensions came out instead of just the cap nuts. It was just difficult to get the nuts off of the extensions.

The battery was tilted 45 degrees. The shipping box must of been in several different positions to get this battery tilted. The battery was not connected but the key was in the 'on' position which the operator's manual says will drain the battery.

Battery is being charged now with a Battery Tender Plus charger. Added oil and tomorrow gas. I still have my 25 year old Honda 800EX and it started up last week with no problems.

I am looking forward for this 3000 to give me the save good performance. I already have a Honda EU2000IS. I do regular maintenance and it has always performed above my expectations. I just purchased the Honda EU3000IS as I needed more power than the EU2000 was able to provide. I almost bought another EU2000 and paralleled them, but decided to just use a single generator with battery start to make it easier on my wife if I was not home when it was needed. With the two wheel kit installed, she can move the heavy generator anywhere she needs it. I have several UPC's for my computers and entertainment system in case we lose power.

I called the mfg. Of the units and they said that they would not run on generators. I plugged in the EU3000 and they run perfectly with the clean power output of the Honda. The only problem that I worry about is that because they are so good it makes them a target to be stolen. I use the generators for home backup power when we lose Comed electricity which seems to happen 4 or 5 times a year in my area.

As I never take the generators anywhere, they should be safe at the house. Great Product that isn't silent, but getting as close as I think you can with a portable generator.

Had recently purchased a Travel Trailer and needed as alternate power source and this unit was recommended. Have had a chance to use it recently, and if it's as reliable and efficient in the future, it will become a great buy. I would suggest this generator to others in need of a power source. And, by the way, it is extremely quiet as generators go. And in Eco (economy mode) it's almost a whisper. And I think with a full tank you can run it 14-18 hrs. In Eco mode You can converse and understand one another without raising you voices.

I will be giving Honda products a hard look in the future as the need arises. Big thumbs up! Waiting until I could purchased engine oil (was very disappointed that it didn't come with a quart of oil and that the Honda dealer didn't carry the 10W30).

Then the generator would not start after adding oil, fuel and connecting the battery. Had to troubleshoot the problem and found a broken spark plug boot. Now I've have to return to the Honda Dealer for warranty and have to have the generator for a long RV trip that we're leaving in 2 days. I purchased a Honda due to the reviews stated the best, would know for sure due to my wouldn't start right off the bat. My previous Generator was also a a Honda EU3000is.But, to my dismay was recently stolen off my work trailer. I had it for a number of years.

VERY PLEASED WITH IS RELIABILITY. So without hesitation, i opted to purchase same.

This Honda model is Truly Quiet!!!! Did I Say HOW QUIET IT IS!!!!!! So many times at work the site I've been asked about its performance and I tell them I could not be happier!!! It is RELIABLE! Maintenence is little and easy! It is also perfect, for bringing to campsites on my trailer, it does not disturb the other campers around our site.

Thank You HONDA for producing a product that Lasts and is OUTSTANDING for its purpose. Sincerely, Ricky Defosses D.B.A. Ricky's 'Mr.Fix-It'. Only started it up have not used it under power yet. Oil capacity say's 18 oz would only take 16 oz Battery was completely dead manual says that if left in the on position it will drain the battery. It was in the on position when I took it out of the sealed box.

Filled with oil and gas pulled the choke started 1st pull. Will call tomorrow and see what they will do about the battery. I know it is not good for a battery to be stored completely dead. I did not run it long enough to charge it up. It was still dead after 1/2hr of run time.

First off, I've seen a couple of reviews saying that they've had problems starting the generator when it's new. I had the same problem. Turns out that the shipping company must have turned the generator on it's side and the remaining oil from the factory drained out and completely soaked the air filter to the point that it couldn't get enough air to fire. Ordered a new air filter and it fired up on the first crank. We use the 3000is to power our travel trailer camping and at events where a lot of campers are all parked near each other. The other 'less expensive' inverter generators are quiet, but the Honda is so quiet that several people thought it was turned off. Runs for 20 hours or better with the air conditioner off - powering TV's, the microwave, coffee pot, and lighting.

With the air conditioner on it has no problem running through the night. I'm glad I purchased one of the best and not a cheaper Chinese brand - I can hear the difference. My other generator bit the dust and I was caught without a generator for a month trip to the West. My grandkids had to have air conditioning and power for their computers. I at first thought that this generator might not handle all of my requirements but I was wrong. I started it in regular mode and turned it to Eco mode. This generator operated my 13,500 air conditioner, my RV fridge on electric power and all electronics being used and being charged.

With 90+ degrees the air conditioner was going strong and the generator kept right up in the Eco mode. I used it for about 170 hours in 30 days and that is really saying something for a new generator. In Eco mode it ran for about 12 hours on 2.5 gallons of gas operating all of the above. Remember to change the oil on a regular basis and you should be good to go. I ordered a 3000is with an auto start installed from EC Power systems in Colorado. After receiving the generator I filled it with gas and oil, then tried over and over and over to start it. After a half hour of troubleshooting I pulled off the spark plug cover to find that someone had pulled the cap off of the spark plug wire and just left it for the buyer to deal with.

Thanks Honda for your quality control process; the first thing I have to do before even starting a $2695.00 generator is to take it to the repair shop. Any bets as to weather Honda would at least send a gift card to compensate for the time and mileage to have to bring a never yet used generator to the shop? I won't be holding my breath. Went tent camping with some buddies in the 90 degree heat. I've never owned a generator and rented an eu3000is, to power a window a/c unit and a tv/dvd combo. My friend also brought a window unit but brought a 'regular' generator. After we both powered our units and hooked up the a/c units, we both realized there was no way we could sleep with his unit running.

I didn't know if it would work, but we powered both 5,000 btu units on my generator all night on right under a full tank of gas. I was pretty amazed. We moved the unit about 10 feet away from where we slept and no one was bothered by the 'noise'. The fact that all the units in the rental house were Honda made made a statement as well. We let the kids play video games and we powered small fans for hours with the unit in eco mode.

Couldn't believe how quiet it was. No question, this is the unit I'm purchasing. I experienced the same issue as a previous one star reviewer did. I bought this for the turn key quite ease of use operation and because of Honda's reputation. I own six different generators.

Let's get this out there first off, the EU2000 unit is best unit in its class ever built. The EU2000 gave me the incentive to buy the EU3000iS.

I bought this unit for my personal service truck primarily to run my little Makita Air compressor. I experienced the same issue as the previous one Star reviewer: the overload light circuit trips every time the compressor tries to start; the circuit breaker never pops. I know circuit breakers are designed for short circuits but come on, 20 amp breaker for a 30amp plug 23.3 amp circuit and it doesn't trip. I've been running this compressor on my Generac 3000 for years and never experienced an issue. Plug the compressor in to any 15amp wall plug, runs without issue.

I also run it on my Kawasaki 3200 which is rated for 2800 watts as well, and it's an old old generator. I don't understand!!! I contacted the dealer I bought it from and they said to bring it back and they'll sell me an EU7000.that should do it. I'm beyond disappointed.

The fact that I can run the compressor on my cheap old junk Generac and Kawasaki proves that Honda has missed the mark here severely. I saved for quite some time to buy the Honda!! We use our 3000is mostly for RVing (while boondocking). It's also been used for the occasional power outages in our rural area.

I follow the recommended maintenance fairly closely - especially keeping the oil changed every 100 hours (oil changes take only minutes). Installing an aftermarket hour-meter is a must for maintenance reasons - I'm not sure why they don't come stock with one. Much of our generator run-time is in eco-throttle mode; running our satellite system, TV, microwave, lights, fans, etc. We NEVER run our AC and microwave at the same time.

Honda Eu3000is Shop Manual Pdf Forum

In fact, if the AC is needed we don't run much of anything else. The AC puts a huge load on the unit and we don't want to over 'stress' our wonderful generator. I would say of all the hours we have on our unit 90% are in low to moderate load range.

As far as ease of moving the 3000is around, it takes a couple of guys. For that reason, we have the generator mounted in the back of our F-350 most of the time. A camper shell protects it from the weather and other elements. When in use I open the tailgate and the back of the shell for ventilation. I've used it in this configuration for more than a decade. We've had a lot of complements from our neighbors about how quiet our generator is:).

We love our 3000is Phil & Karen. This is a great generator. We have used this generator for tailgating for the last eight years.

Its quiet, dependable, and starts with the first turn of the key. Before each season I send it to the dealer to ensure proper preventative maintenance is performed. I also use premium gas. The Christmas of 2013 we lost electricity for seven days due to a ice storm. A electrician hooked up this generator to power furnace, sump pump, TV and lights on the 1st floor. I filled the tank up three times a day.

My family was comfortable as they could be due to the circumstances. I purchased 2 Honda EU3000is generators for backup power at home and power to run a BBQ cooking trailer. The first time I used it they worked flawlessly.

Easy to start, fuel efficient, and quiet. Each used about 2.5 gallons of fuel to run 13 hours. I was impressed. Unfortunately my second outing wasn't as good.

We pulled our trailer 6 hours to the home opener for Iowa State Football to tailgate with family. Generator #1 work perfectly, but generator #2 was hard to start and would not stay running. Due to the size of our trailer and power needs, we need 2 generators to power the A/C, fridge, BBQ cooker. It was very hot and would have been nice to have everything working. I had a 5 star opinion of the Honda line of generators.

But unfortunately, my opinion has dropper to about a 2.5. I'll seek warranty service from the dealer I purchased it from. I'm sure it will be repaired to my satisfaction. Having reservations about recommending Honda at this point.

We selected the EU3000iS based on Honda's reputation for quality and personal experience - I also use an EU2000i at work on a professional search and rescue boat to provide nighttime lighting in emergencies. This spring when we purchased our summer home 9 miles off-grid in the wilds of northern New Hampshire it came with a good solar power system but an aging generator by another manufacturer that also wasn't stable enough to handle our satellite internet, phone and TV requirements. After analyzing our power requirements the EU3000iS was the logical choice and we couldn't be happier! It handles our refrigerator, electronics, well pump, microwave, washer and gas dryer without a hiccup - not all at once, mind you, but in enough combinations to even further reinforce our faith in the product. So far we've logged well over a hundred hours on the Honda during the all-too-frequent cloudy days when the solar array can't keep up. One nice feature of our system is that the inverter on the solar side has a built-in transfer switch and battery charger so when I kick on the Honda it switches the house load to the generator automatically and simultaneously charges the battery bank.

The Honda's fuel consumption is excellent and the machine is oh, so-o-o-o quiet. If I could ask for any improvement it would be a remote starter system so I don't have to go out to the generator shed in bad weather.

Still, a solid 'five star' rating all around. I also have to give a huge shout-out to our dealer, Joe's Equipment in West Lebanon, NH - super nice folks, fair prices and terrific service! IT IS AMAZING HOW QUIET THIS GENERATOR IS, AND WHEN YOU SWITCH TO ECO MODE, CAN HARDLY TELL IT'S RUNNING. HOOKED UP TO A RELIANCE 6 CIRCUIT TRANSFER SWITCH, AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT WHAT IT CAN HANDLE.

HAD A 25 CU.FT REFRIGERATOR, 7 CU.FT FREEZER, 1/2 HP PORTABLE SUMP PUMP, GAS BOILER, 9000 BTU.110 VOLT MINI SPLIT A/C, COMPUTER, 6 LIGHTS, CEILING FAN.SECURITY LIGHT. 1800-2000 WATTS. WITH 800 TO A 1000 WATTS TO SPARE.

TRANSFERED OVER FROM LINE POWER TO GENERATOR POWER, SEAMLESSLY WITH NO SURGING OR FLUCTUATION IN POWER. ANYONE INTERESTED IN THIS GENERATOR, IT'S WELL WORTH THE COST. ONE THING,YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE OF IS,WHAT YOUR WATTAGE USE WILL BE. MINE IS BASED ON ALL NEW ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES, SO YOUR USAGE WILL VARY. We needed to purchase a gen.

For home back up, on the first try I ran one fridge and one freezer, while the power company was doing up grades in our neighborhood. For the first time use it ran for a total of 12.5 hrs it did a wonderful Job.

I set the Eco setting and when I got home it was still running and still had around a 1/4 tank of gas left in it. Very impressive, I highly recommend this model and or any Honda generators, this is our first Honda and we love it all my other friends have Honda gens. And they love them that's why I decided to try it and I love it.

In my 50+ years I have owned 3 generators, all bought at your local box stores. When hubby and I received this (had it delivered) we were excited. He had spent many hours watching videos on this product. We followed all the instructions, (he knew em by heart) and with one, yes one push of the button the generator started. He hooked up a 6k household A C unit, the fridge, 10 fishtanks, as well as our koi pond filters. Did not even phase it. This generator does it all.we are very impressed.Hubby says he can't wait for our first big storm (we live in Florida) I say.

Just purchased an EU3000ISAC. It went together very quickly i.e. Adding oil, connecting battery, and started on first try. Extremely quiet.I really very surprised give my full size regular generator (non inverter). Of note.the unit does not ship with oil in a separate container, so you will have to purchase a quart.

Also, the unit is supposed to hold 1 full quart, however the unit I have would only except 3/4 quart out of the box.again, minor. I've had looked at other brands for some time in comparison, and what sold me on the Honda were all of the 5 star reviews for this product. Further, in visual inspection of the other comparable models prior to purchase, they were all significantly less robust in their build, cheap plastic parts, etc. The Honda is very well made. I'm looking forward to years of service with this unit. I love this generator and I have owned quite a few different ones. 1st let me say that I read many reviews good and bad about this generator but I have figured out all the negative ones centered around the battery switch (ignition switch) being in the on position upon arrival.

Honda being the great company they are didn't forget to turn the switch off they left it in this position so you would have to open up the batteries access door and hook the cables back up to the batteries. Now they didn't do this just to keep your batteries from going dead they also wanted to make sure you checked the oil (empty) before starting up. I would probably be one of those people that just wanted to start it as soon as I got it in excitement if it would not have been for the battery issue I probably would have.

I filled the oil and placed a small amount of fuel in the generator, pulled out the choke lever a gave a tug on the rope starter. Walla 1st tug and that generator fired to life with a roar. Well not really that thing is so quiet I couldnt beleive what I was not hearing. I called my wife into the warehouse and made her listen to it while we carried on a normal conversation. I then decided to turn off throttle control and let it run at speed and still we were able to carry on a normal conversation.

I havent had it out camping yet but I am looking forward to using it in our camp without everyone giving you the look for running the generator. I will never by another generator unless they come out with one that runs on water that does not have the name Honda on it. This is, by far, the best quality generator on the market in its class. But the price is extremely high - almost beyond being justified by the outstanding quality. The unit is heavy - could be much lighter. For the price, would be much more of a value if it had more capacity (sustained wattage). Overall, after considering other units with higher capacity and much lower cost, I yielded to the Honda based on my experience with other Honda power equipment and the overall expected reliability.

Honda could absolutely OWN this market if they would bring value (capability / features up) and price more into reality. I have been wanting to get a Honda generator for a long time and i finally go my wish. Bought it, took it home, gassed it up, filled the oil and took it to camp. Started right up like a charm and was so quiet that we could enjoy the peaceful night around the fire. I even went up and checked a couple times because i couldn't hear it running.

It used barely a quarter of a tank of gas and it ran all night to to run some medical equipment. I can't believe how quiet it is and how easily it starts. My 12 yr old grand daughter pulled the rope the first start and only had to pull it twice. I have other generators but none this nice and quiet and good on gas.

Manual

Thank you for a great product. Just got my EU3000is. I did my homework on generators for private residential use and after a couple of other brand purchases I realized the importance of low noise levels in residential neighborhoods. They were great power sources but was always aware of the level of noise and the negative reaction from the neighbors even when just running a charge for 5-10 Minutes. The Honda is amazingly quiet and will have no problem running it continuously for hours if needed. I purchased my unit from Kawagushi Honda in LA.

Owner Art Kawaguchi was the biggest reason I made the decision to buy it now. Art was extremely helpful and informative. A cross the street is a Hawaii style snow cone stand you just have to try. I have purchased several Honda generator's over the years, the oil dip sticks seem to be come brittle after a short time of operation, I do not know if this is due to heat or the plastic which it is made from is not compatible for being in oil? From the splash oil system the dip sticks come apart and are then in the crank case oil system. On a couple of my machines a small peace of plastic from the broken dip stick gets lodged in the gears and then when you use the electric starter the next time it puts it in a bind and wipes the starter motor out, and on another occasion a small particle of plastic was lodged in the taped it stopped rotating and wore a spot on the taped had to replace it and the starter motor. It seems to me there is no need for the stick even being there as per the Manuel the oil level is full when it is up to the threads were the oil cap goes.

The local dealer says he has no records or complaints of this, would like a response if this has happened to any one else.to remedy this problem I have now cut the sticks off of the oil plugs. On rating Honda generators the quality and durability is great there products are far better than the other machines on the market. I bought this generator from our local dealer due to its 23 amp rated power. It is a very nice unit with electric start, and the fit & finish are excellent.

My joy quickly turned to sorrow when I tried to run a small air compressor. My air compressor runs great on a regular 120v 15a wall socket. However, the Honda EU3000iS will not run the same compressor, even though the advertised specs are well beyond what the compressor requires. Much to my surprise, the Honda engine actually bogs down and goes into protection mode without ever tripping the 20 amp circuit breaker on the front of the unit. In other words, the EU3000iS engine does not have enough power to trip its own circuit breaker.

Needless to say I took it back. Came back home with TWO EU2000i running in parallel, and those two units together would still not start the air compressor. I am very disappointed in the underpowered Honda engines.

It appears that the magnetos are sufficient but the gas engines are not up to the task. Come on Honda, fix this! And please offer a better wheel kit for offroad use. Bought my 3k Dec of 2000. Use it for RV power most of the time, but wired it into my house main during a storm outage. Ran an extension cord across the fence to my neighbor for his refrigerator and a tv. My job was with the local power company(40 years in the elect dept.).

Disconnected & isolated incoming feed from power company. Made a 30 amp twistlock plug wired with 6 gauge wire to my service main at the hse, taking advantage of the 23 Amp output at the Gen. Took amp reads during the outage. Very impressive performance. Ran in ECO most of the time. Has plenty of power for RV use.

I always take it out of ECO when using AC. The AC compressor requires the cleanest voltage at startup. In ECO mode the voltage drop could be critical, depending what else is on in the RV. One item not mentioned in 'reviews' is the use of store extension cords 'not' rated for good amperage load. Min wire gauge is 12AWG, better is 10AWG( 30 amp rating). The bigger the wire gauge equals less resistance/load.

Length of ext cord also factored in load increase at the Gen. Bought the correct Twistlock plug (for Gen), 30A RV Receptacle, and 10 gauge b/w/g wire to make a pigtail that works to connect the RV 30A ext cord to the EU3000 23A Twistlock. Have replaced the starting battery twice. Use stabilizer in fuel. Plug changed twice. Oil changed 5 times.

Very good value for my money. This is a heavy unit. I carry my Gen in the back of my pickup locked with a heavy cable. I use a four part block&tackle to lift up, then back my pickup under to lower into the bed. Easy one man operation. No back injuries.

Cudo's Honda Quiet with good power output. I wrote the review Disappointed. The EU3000 would not run my 13500 AC. Went on a six day trip ran 15 to 30 minutes with nothing on but AC before shutting down. Called Honda and was told it would not run the AC in economy mode which I already knew. Mine would not last two minutes in economy mode and maybe fifteen minutes with it off. I bought it at Camper World.

I called Honda and was told to take it to Umatilla Fl about 20 miles away to a authorized Honda Dealer. It did not seem right since I did not buy it there but called the dealer and he was super nice and said sure bring it on. We started it and ran about 20 minutes. When it choked down he said did that oil light blink when the discharge light blinked. I said it did. He checked the oil and it was low but had some on the stick.

He said forget the dip stick and fill it until oil runs out. Well guess what it will now run my AC two TV'S and all the lights on in the economy mode. How could that small amount of oil cause so much trouble? He tried to explain it to me. Camper World said they had it prepped with oil. They must not have had it full.

I am now as they say a HAPPY CAMPER. Sorry Honda and THANKS SO MUCH to the Umatilla Fl dealer. I bought this Honda 3000is with my next door neighbor in case we have a power outage. This past March our power company shut off power to upgrade there system. Power off lasted 11-1/2hrs. I hooked up my house after 3hrs and with my neighbors power off and his 130 bottle wine cooler and no hot water I hooked up his house too. The Honda3000is worked perfectly keeping 2 homes with power for our refrigerators, TVs, & his wine cooler going for 10 hours with no problem.

Thanks Honda for a wonderful quite Generator. Great features well built and easy to start. I have a 2014 Toy Hauler with one 1500 AC.

Will not run this AC unit in eco mode. Some post say it will. I called Honda and was told it would not. I was hopeful. Easy to trip even with eco mode off. Ac and TV is about it. I am shocked. Super quite with nothing on but when air and tv are on it is quite loud.

I would never have been satisfied if I had not tried this unit but would not recommend the extra bucks. I looked at a. for.

Should have bought it. Super quite with nothing on but when air and tv are on it is quite loud. I would never have been satisfied if I had not tried this unit but would not recommend the extra bucks. I looked at a.

for. Should have bought it. Purchased this generator as the result of an extended power outage to run the furnace, refrigerator, and other appliances. It so quite and so efficient on fuel consumption its impressive.

Have owned the generator for about 10 years and it has never failed me. It has been used at camp sites, construction sited, and so much more. Currently it is the sole power source for our pole barn as its normal duty. I love the small compact design and it light weight, it packs a punch in a small package. Another awesome Honda product. Just installed my transfer switch yesterday. Really the way to go.

I do have new appliances due to a recent remodeling. All lighting is either CFL or LED and house is about 1800 sq ft. I am powering 2 refrigerators, 1 heater (gas forced hot air), 8 LED high hats and a 42' flat panel TV in the kitchen, 2 lights and exhaust fan in the master bath and a den light. I have watts to spare.

Think for now leave it at that so I can run the 'eco throttle' for extended run time. Pretty impressive. Tom Media, Pa. We have have had our generator for 10 years. I start it on the first of every month, change the oil, plug and battery every 2 to 3 years (depending on usage).

We did buy the wheel kit. We got the generator for hurricanes. I love this generator. It is small, quiet, and runs a fridge, small chest freezer, small AC unit, our TV and cable box (if we still have cable) and my husbands O2 concentrator. It is close to maxed out, but we have no problems with it.

It is very quiet. We have our generator set up about 25 feet from our back door on a screened in porch. I keep it covered (when not in use) with a small grill cover.

We get 22 to 24 hours of run time on 5 gallons of fuel at about 85 to 90 percent load. I would highly recommend this generator to anyone needing temporary power for power outages. I have collected generators for over 25 years and have units that range from less than 1000 watts to a diesel unit that is 70 kva. I have 6 Honda generators in my collection, all 6 are top of the line units that have never let me down. Having said that if I had to pick only one the EU3000is is in my opinion the best unit Honda has ever made. I often need very quiet power and this is quietest unit I have ever found. Long run time without refueling, has run refrigerator for 19 hours.

Power is very clean good for electronic devices. Electric start is nice for people unable to pull start but having back up pull start is a nice feature allowing easy starting if battery is dead. With the reliability that I have had with my Honda products parts are not often needed however when I have, I have always had good luck with my local dealer. Most common parts in stock.

I only gave 4 stars in the features list because in my opinion this unit needs an hour meter. Most professional equipment comes with one to time service intervals. Give the quality of Honda products you can expect several years of service so hour meter would be nice.
